Review of Directory Generator by Armand Morin

Written on September 3, 2010 – 8:11 am | by admin |

Directory Generator is a software product that can generate hundreds of keyword-targeted web pages. The purpose is to help you get targeted traffic to your website so you can make more sales or earn commissions.

I was one of the earliest users of Directory Generator before it launched publicly August 26, 2004, so Ive had a little head start in testing it.

Let me give you a little background info first: In late 2003, new traffic generating software appeared called Traffic Equalizer. I have to admit I knew nothing about it until recently. My guess as to why is that it is talked about mostly among big marketers, and probably mostly at seminars.

Its just like Armand Morin to ride the traffic software wave and even try to make a better surfboard. And thats what Directory Generator is.

It is supposed to be equivalent to software such as Ranking Power, Traffic Equalizer, and Traffic Hurricane, which allows you to get targeted traffic by generating pages that get high search engine rankings. The difference is, like most of what Armand does, the results are classier and more professional looking.

Of the previously mentioned programs, Traffic Hurricane is the only one that is free. Why pay for this other software if you can get it free? Because your Traffic Hurricane pages will have someone elses Google AdSense ads on your pages, earning them money off your traffic. Now that I have Directory Generator, I dont need someone else earning money from my traffic unless theyre going to pay me part of it. Selfish, arent I? One other thing: Im surprised no one noticed this but Google doesnt allow Adsense code to be placed on pages not owned by you, so the way this is set up might get someone into trouble.

I know what youre thinkingYeah, thats nice but can Directory Generator really generate targeted traffic? Absolutely! The first website I created with Directory Generator is steadily earning Google AdWords income every single day without me doing a thing. It took 30 days for traffic and commissions to really start kicking in. I dont want this to sound like hype but this is the easiest money Ive made so far. Nevertheless the second website I made isnt doing squat. But that just tells me: Theres no such thing as a sure thing. The domain name you choose and keywords you target can make a difference. But the second website also hasnt been up as long, so well see what happens

Am I going to get rich off the money its generating? No, nor could someone quit their job with it, but at the rate its working I would earn the $250 price back fairly quickly. My goal was to first earn the domain fee back and I did. The site is listed in Google, but gets no traffic from there. Most of the traffic comes from other search engines. If it had multiple pages spidered by Google, look out!

Ive heard through the grapevine of multiple people earning 4-figure monthly incomes from sites created with traffic-generating software. And Ive heard of one person earning a six-figure income. For now, this test tells me that this software really does work.

Heres a little secret: No one who uses traffic generating software will tell you their website URL. Thats because they dont want people ripping off their profitable website. So you have to buy the software to see the sites it produces. At $250 a pop, thats an expensive trial.

What do you do with the traffic it generates?

1. You earn Google Adsense commissions (this feature is built into the software).
2. You can add SearchFeed (you cant add both. Google doesnt allow it).
3. You can add a Linkshare ad to earn additional commissions.
4. The newest version lets you earn Amazon commissions.

BENEFITS: Easily generate 100s of keyword targeted pages for a niche directory.
Disadvantage: You still have to choose your keywords which will be your site theme. You have to know how to FTP the pages to your web host. Unlike Traffic Equalizer, the program wont do it for you.

CONCLUSION: Highly recommended. Thank goodness Armand didnt price this software too cheaply. If you only try one traffic-generating software program, I recommend Directory Generator.

Office Communication: Tips to Stay Connected

Written on August 31, 2010 – 4:30 pm | by admin |

Want your office to run as smoothly as possible? The first step involves improving communication.

There’s nothing more stressful than lack of communication in an office setting. When co-workers don’t work together as a team, problems and misunderstandings – big and small – can arise, causing unnecessary dilemmas and even rifts.

The following tips will help managers improve office communication:

* Hold regular meetings. Whether they’re held weekly or daily, meetings are a great way to find out what’s going on around the office and learn about what assignments or events are to come. This also is a good time to talk about what goals need to be set for the office.

* Utilize technology. Though e-mailing, interoffice calling and paging are effective ways of keeping in touch with co-workers, new technology is taking communication to a new level.

One such technology is the Immediate Response Information System, also called IRIS. Developed by TechRadium Inc., IRIS is an innovative alert system that sends routine, priority and emergency messages to building occupants, building managers and, if necessary, emergency responders. These voice and text alerts are sent through a variety of frequently used electronic devices: home and cell phones, e-mail accounts, pagers, PDAs and fax machines. IRIS is an affordable communication system because it requires no hardware, software or system installation for setup.

* Use your listening skills. Pay attention so that you do not miss out on important information that you may need to know or discuss with a co-worker or client in the future.

* Spread the word. When you have sensitive or important matters to discuss, don’t hide behind e-mails because the message can be misconstrued. To make sure you get your point across, meet with each party that’s involved or contact them by phone.

Digital Camera Primer: Look Before You Buy

Written on August 28, 2010 – 7:28 pm | by admin |

As with any type of electronics, such as computer notebooks, printers, or a computer desktop, buying a digital camera presents you with a myriad of choices. Each digital camera manufacturer has more than a dozen offerings, ranging from the more basic “point and shoot” camera to the top of the line professional single lens reflex digital camera. So, it’s important to consider a number of factors before you buy. Here’s a primer to get you started.

Digital Camera Cost

Just a few years ago, inexpensive digital cameras had terrible optics and were an overall disappointment. Not anymore. Today, even a $149 camera has more features than a $799 camera had in the past. Of course, you can pay more than $10,000 for a camera, but for most casual photographers a camera under $500 will have everything you want and then some.

Megapixels

It wasn’t that long ago that a three-mexapixel digital camera was considered state-of-the-art. Today, fairly basic consumer models are seven- or eight-megapixels, which allows you to considerably crop any photo and still get a high-quality print. For that reason, don’t consider buying a camera that’s less than five megapixels.

LCD Display

It may not seem like the most important part of a camera, but the size of the LCD display will make a big difference while you’re shooting your photos. A two-inch LCD is great, but a three-inch is even better since you’ll be able to see at a glance whether the photo you just took is fuzzy or if it’s a keeper. Beyond size, make sure that the LCD display is clear in all lighting conditions – indoors, outdoors, and at night. If you can’t see the photo you just took, it defeats the purpose of having a digital camera.

Shooting Modes

Many digital cameras offer a variety of shooting modes as well as manual settings. Many of the ultracompact consumer cameras, however, do not have manual overrides, and you must choose among the shooting modes provided. If you’re in the market for a “point and shoot” digital camera, that’s no problem. On the other hand, if you want to be able to change the aperture or shutter speed, make sure you buy a digital camera that allows you to do manual settings. Similarly, if you’ll primarily use your camera in a specific environment (at sporting events, for example), make sure that the digital camera you select has that specific mode. Keep in mind that some digital cameras even have underwater capability or an “eBay” setting for taking photos of items you want to auction on eBay, so don’t assume the way you’ll use your camera is unique.

Storage Medium

Unfortunately, there’s not an industry standard when it comes to storage cards. Make sure that you understand the type of film card your camera uses, and that you have a reader that will allow you to transfer your photos from your camera to your computer desktop or laptops. Alternately, many cameras come with software (usually on a DVD) that will allow you to plug your camera directly into your desktop or notebooks and upload your pictures.

After You Buy

Once you’ve purchased your digital camera, take time to practice and play with the various settings. It’s often said that digital cameras are more like computer peripherals than cameras, so keep in mind that there may be a learning curve. Once you’ve mastered it, however, you’ll be amazed at the enjoyment you’ll get from your new purchase.

Making Cheap Telephone Calls Using SMS

Written on August 26, 2010 – 6:06 pm | by admin |

Around the world, SMS – or Short Message Service – has become ubiquitous. Millions upon millions of SMSes are sent and received each day from one mobile phone to another. These 160-character messages are the way in which people around the globe or around the corner stay in touch with one another. Increasingly, however, people are realizing that they can make cheap telephone calls using SMS.

Using an SMS gateway, a cheap phone call can be triggered using SMS. An SMS triggered phone call to Jamaica, for example, would cost less than one U.S. dollar. Technology allows you to place a call between any two telephone handsets, while your mobile phone or computer keyboard becomes a convenient dial pad. Contrary to what you may imagine, a telephone call placed with an SMS gateway uses a reliable telephone network, so the quality of the call is high.

More than Telephone Calls

An SMS gateway can be used for more than a cheap phone call. There are a variety of SMS-based services that you can use.

Email to SMS: An email to SMS service allows you to send SMS through email. Some SMS gateways go a step further by allowing your business contacts, family members, and friends to send SMS to you.

SMS to Email: Almost all mobile services offer SMS to email. Some SMS gateways, however, allow two-way communication between email and SMS – without limiting communication to a short window of time.

SMS to SMS: With SMS to SMS communication, you can broadcast one SMS to one person or to many different people. The better SMS gateways allow for an SMS to be sent discretely, or allow an SMS to be sent to a set of predefined names that you provide.

Scheduling: Although simple SMS scheduling can be done with a mobile phone, SMS gateways use a Web interface to allow for more complex scheduling.

Fax Services

With the right SMS gateway, you can send faxes anywhere using email to fax. In addition, you can fax a web page to any fax machine using SMS. Furthermore, you can create a schedule so that you can regularly receive a fax of a particular web page.

Some SMS gateways charge for their services in hard currency; typically, you can use a credit card or a payment service like moneybookers. Other SMS gateways incorporate a credit system, and charge for services with credits. You can either purchase credits using a credit card or payment service, or you can earn credits by referring friends, family members, and business associates to the service. In essence, you receive a commission each time some you refer uses the services of the SMS gateway. If you choose to go that route, you can go from making cheap telephone calls using SMS to making free telephone calls using SMS. What could be better than that?

Home Theater Projectors for the Cinephile in You.

Written on August 26, 2010 – 5:59 am | by admin |

Over the years, I have grown really attached to my home theater system. I must say, of all the rooms in the house, my own little movie theater is the one I could not live without. I am absolutely in love with my home theater system and, if you are anything like me, I am sure you will love yours too. I found, when I was initially building my system, that there was so much information to absorb. Every product out there seemed better than the next, and I found myself unsure about which to buy. Here are a few things to keep in mind when shopping for a new home theater projector.

There are two main types of projectors on the market; DLP and LCD. DLP stands for digital light processing. It was invented by Texas Instruments, and utilizes a microscopic array of over 2 million mirrors. DLP has a higher contrast than LCD, but there are some unfavorable consumer reports that note something called the “rainbow effect”. The “rainbow effect” is noticeable when looking from one side of the screen to the other, and is characterized by a sudden burst of color.

LCD stands for liquid crystal display. These projectors have three distinct glass LCD panels inside; one for each component of the video signal (red, green, and blue). While DLP chips reflect light, the LCD panels allow light to pass through them. LCD projectors produce brighter images, and they are known for having excellent color saturation. In the end, you will be hard-pressed to notice a great difference between the two types of projection systems.

When shopping for a new projector, keep your particular needs in the forefront of your thoughts. As I mentioned above, it is really easy to lose yourself in the minutiae of each particular system. Connectivity is a definitely something to be mindful of. Make sure that you are able to connect all of your components, including your gaming system. Nothing beats playing Halo in real-life size! Contract ratio is another important factor; the higher the ratio, the better the picture will be.

The brightness of your projector is another thing to consider. Light output is measured in ANSI (American National Standards Institute) lumens. You will want to avoid a projector that produces anything shy of 1000 lumens. As you are likely aware, the projection resolution is extremely important. This refers to the number of pixels that can be displayed on the screen. Go for something that is no less than 1024×768, as this will allow you to fully appreciate the depth and quality of HDTV. In the end, you should buy the projector that is in line with your needs and your budget. Soprano’s is coming on right now! Time to go!

How to repair the E18 error on Canon digital cameras

Written on August 17, 2010 – 7:15 am | by admin |

How to repair the E18 error on Canon digital cameras

There seems to be a relatively large population of Canon owners who are affected by the E18 error. In this article I will teach you a few simple methods you can try to repair the error yourself.

This article is intended for people whose cameras are out of warranty. If your camera is still under warranty, go to your nearest Canon repair shop and let them fix it. If its not, you can either choose to pay around 150$ for the repair or try one of these simple techniques.

First I should explain what exactly an E18 is. According to Canons web site, it is an error that involves the lens unit or lens cover. The lens gets stuck in the extended position, and refuses to move either to focus the lens or to retract when powered off. It can happen if you apply pressure to the area surrounding the lens while it is in the recording mode (this includes dropping the camera), or if sand or dirt get into the lens area. The lens gets stuck, you get a black screen with a small “E18″ sign in the lower-left corner, the camera beeps a few times and turns off.

Lately, I noticed a number of people online who are having troubles with this error. It happened to my Power Shot A520 as well a couple of weeks ago, but fortunately, the camera was still under warranty so Canon fixed it free of charge. In order to help the unlucky ones whose cameras are out of warranty, I decided to write this article.

Basically, there are a couple of simple things you can try. I cant guarantee they will work for you, but I know these methods have helped some people get rid of their E18 problems:

1) One method is to tap the padded USB cover part on a hard surface, for example, a desk. I know it sounds to simple to work, but this can get some of the dirt out of the lens.

2) Try compressed air. With a fine tip blow off gun and dry compressed air set the tip between the lens turret and the camera body and turn on the air while moving the tip around the lens. It should remove all of the dust and sand. Turn the camera on and it should function fine.

3) Another solution is to try and push the lens back into place. This is the least preferable method. Try it only if the camera is out of warranty and DONT apply too much pressure! If the lens can be set back into place with a light push, great! If not, dont force it!

4) If nothing else works, there are a couple of online guides in different languages for dismantling the camera and cleaning the lens thoroughly. Try this only if your camera is out of warranty! Some of them are:

- http://www.ixus-world.de/tips/repair_guide/e18_01en.htm – a guide in English
- http://menthol.hit.bg/E18.html – a guide in Bulgarian
- http://www.artecdesign.ee/~jan/Kaamerad/PowerShotA70/index.html – Estonian guide

The last two are not in English, but they have a lot of pictures which should help with the whole process.

So youve learned how you can try and rescue your camera. Try out the methods for yourself, and contact me with good news.

If you want more information about the E18 error, or would like to read other peoples experiences with it, stop by my site at http://www.e18error.com. Feel free to drop me an email.

Headphones Make The Grade

Written on August 17, 2010 – 3:29 am | by admin |

Too often the weakest link in a portable audio setup is the headphones

Many portable music enthusiasts spend a great deal of money trying to improve on the quality of their music by buying the highest quality CD players, MP3 players, stereos, and speakers. Then they spend most of their time listening to their portable audio devices through the cheap headphones that came with the devices or something they picked up at the local discount store. Good headphones should be the primary concern in most cases where portable audio quality is a primary consideration.

The cost of headphones

The good news is that great quality from headphones is much less expensive than getting great quality from the other audio components. A good set of headphones will often provide you with a better sound experience than a very expensive set of speakers. So if you’re going to spend for the best audio quality, the primary concern should be on purchasing great headphones.

Many people make the mistake of not even buying headphones at all. Almost all portable audio devices now come with their own little headphones. In most cases these are not even brand name headphones, but rather mass manufactured headphones that have a market value between $1 and $10. Even when they are brand name headphones, they are often at the bottom of that brand’s product line. Using these headphones greatly compromises the sound quality of the music you listen to on a daily basis. So as long as you’re going to invest in a portable audio player with all of the features you want, invest in a good set of headphones as well.

Headphones and location

Primarily we use headphones so that we can listen to music wherever we go without rudely imposing our music preferences on those around us. Think about the various places where you listen to music and where you would like to listen to music. How much better does great sounding music make you feel about each of those places? If you’re going to take your music with you, make it great.

These are not your grandpa’s headphones

Headphones were once big metal, wood, and then plastic speaker systems that hung on giant headgear on top of your ears. Over time they got smaller, became more comfortable, and provided better sound. This trend in headphones continues today. While earpieces have been available for a few decades now, the moderately priced earpieces we have now provide sound quality that only the best speaker systems of the past could compete with today. But that doesn’t mean you should settle. If you can have the sound of a concert hall, why settle for the sound of bad headphones? Take a little time and spend a little money to make sure you get a great sound experience from your portable audio devices with a great set of headphones.
